How I Beat My Nemesis

Patience wins out

The room was dark.

I sat on the floor of my dining room with the iPhone flashlight on. Quiet.

My back against the wall.

I was going to get her, no matter how long it took me. I didn’t care. I was going to smash her.

The thought of revenge blurred my mind. It was all I could see. Nothing else mattered.

Not food, not work, not friends. I would sit still as long as I could until she made her way back through the room.

She’d be back alright.

I wanted her blood on my hands. She had already taken so much from me. I couldn’t take it anymore.

She interrupted my work. I couldn’t concentrate. My productivity was shot.

Silently she stalked me. Silently she stole from me.

Revenge would be mine for the taking; all I had to do was wait. This invisible monster would die by my hand; I would make sure.

Now, patience — and I got plenty.

I caught a glimpse of her, but I would wait. I couldn’t act too soon, or I would lose to her again.

My breathing was steady. Rhythmic. It was the only sound.
